How ceiling painting proceeds
- Checking the ceiling: cracks, stains, adhesion of the old paint.
- Protection: the whole room is covered, light fittings removed or protected.
- Washing and sealing: grease is washed off, stains are primed with a sealing primer.
- Filling where needed: cracks and holes are repaired before painting.
- Painting: two coats with a roller in cross directions so the surface is even without streaks.
Good to know before you order
This page is about interior ceilings — not roofs. Ceiling paint is always fully matt: it hides unevenness and prevents unpleasant reflections. Yellow patches on a ceiling do not disappear by painting over them; they must be sealed first. It pays to paint the ceiling before the walls, so the wall edges stay clean. Ceiling painting is often done together with interior painting, so the room only needs covering once. Our ceiling paints are from Tikkurila and Teknos.
Price and the household tax deduction
We always give a fixed price before work starts — the site visit is free and involves no obligation. The price depends on ceiling height, the condition of the ceiling and any stains, the roughness of the texture and whether the ceiling is painted alone or together with the walls.
Household tax deduction (kotitalousvähennys): you can deduct 35% of the labour cost in your Finnish taxation. MaaliPro is in the prepayment register, so the deduction applies.
