How exterior painting proceeds
- On-site inspection: paint condition, rot damage, seams and flashings.
- Washing: mould wash and rinsing, then drying before the next step.
- Preparation: scraping and brushing off loose paint, priming bare wood.
- Top coat: usually two coats, with drying time in between.
- Inspection: we go through the facade together and agree on any finishing touches.
Good to know before you order
The exterior painting season is in practice May to September: the surface must be dry and the temperature usually above +5 °C, also at night. In a rainy week the work is postponed — better than painting damp wood. It pays to paint before the old paint peels extensively: then the preparation is lighter and the price lower. The old paint type cannot be switched to just anything: at the site visit we tell you which paint suits your surface — we use Tikkurila and Teknos exterior paints.
Price and the household tax deduction
We always give a fixed price before work starts — the site visit is free and involves no obligation. The price depends on the facade area, the number of storeys and need for scaffolding, the condition of the old paint and the paint type chosen.
Household tax deduction (kotitalousvähennys): you can deduct 35% of the labour cost in your Finnish taxation. MaaliPro is in the prepayment register, so the deduction applies.
