Wall levelling in Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa

A smooth wall is made with filler, not paint. We repair cracks, remove old wallpaper, level and sand the surfaces so that the painting succeeds — and the result looks like a brand-new wall.

What wall levelling includes

Crack repair

Opening, filling and, where needed, taping the crack so it does not reopen.

Holes and dents

Screw holes, shelf marks and knocked corners.

Full skim coat

Levelling a whole wall or ceiling when the surface is uneven or rough.

Wallpaper removal and levelling

Removing old wallpaper, washing off the glue and levelling the surface for paint.

Plasterboard jointing

Taping and filling new plasterboard seams, screw heads and corners.

Sanding and priming

Sanding with a dust-extracting machine and priming before the top coat.

How wall levelling proceeds

  1. Assessing the surfaces: what is repaired locally, what is levelled entirely.
  2. Preparation: removing wallpaper or loose paint, washing the surface and covering up.
  3. Base filling: deep holes, seams and cracks are filled first.
  4. Finish filling: one or two thin coats, with drying time in between.
  5. Sanding and priming: the surface is sanded smooth and primed ready for painting.

Good to know before you order

Filler dries coat by coat, so levelling typically takes a couple of days before painting can start — worth allowing for in the schedule. Sanding creates dust; our team uses a sander connected to a vacuum, but the covering is still thorough. A filled surface must always be primed, otherwise the top coat absorbs unevenly. In older apartment buildings the levelling is often the part that separates a good result from a poor one — interior painting after that is straightforward.

Price and the household tax deduction

We always give a fixed price before work starts — the site visit is free and involves no obligation. The price depends on the starting condition of the surface, the number of filler coats, whether wallpaper needs removing and the area.

Household tax deduction (kotitalousvähennys): you can deduct 35% of the labour cost in your Finnish taxation. MaaliPro is in the prepayment register, so the deduction applies.
